You're right. You should not accept things just because a know-all person said it so. You must critically accept things, analyze it. If you think that what he's saying is not true in your case, say it so other people might not think that what he's saying is not always the case. Hey, there are a lot of instances that could prove it like difference in car parts of trucks or other repairs that the engines has underwent.

Charlie LaTuna? Jeep Gutierrez? Wow.

What a remarkable tale. Although I am sure that in nearly every way this was a horrible way to spend middle school and underclass years of high school. However, given that Uncle Mando was ultimately able to defeat his tormentors, it is triumphant. And I have to say, it really doesn't surprise me. Uncle Mando has always been a fighter, in my eyes. Thanks for another good story ;)

He was right! It stuns me that so few people actually THINK when they hear some nugget of so-called wisdom. That's my Uncle Mando, always thinking! Right on for challenging that nugget.

The answer should be staring you in the face. The key is the driving direction and the COLOR of the lines in the blind corners. Double white one direction, double yellow the other.

Area 51 believers know that this is a basic in time travel.

Of course the fact it was a Ford Maverick might also bring doubt into the equation. Just saying.

Miguel, Ricardo, Richard, Guy:

I have driven the Ft. Davis (FD) to El Paso (EP), EP to FD highway many times. If you saw the movie "No Country for Old Man" you will see that much of the movie takes place in Sanderson (S), a beautiful community about half way between FD and Valentine (V), not far from Marfa (M) Home of the "Marfa Lights" ("ML"). But back to the milage from FD to EP thing. While going east from EP to FD and cutting accross the double white lines while going around blind cruves the exact milage shown on my '70 Maverick (MV) was 183.56. However, on the trip going west from DF to EP and cutting accross the double yellow lines while going around blind cruves was 186.37. An additional 2.81 miles. (or less if counting from FD to EP as the base number). Could this have something to do with the missing dollar from the three guys that paid to much at that hotel in San Antonio (SA)?

Just a thought. 180 miles is the one way miles to Ft Davis. Round trip 360 plus or minus 2.1 miles.

I have to agree, another well told tale. Never having heard the story of what all went into the making of "the" wooden cars/trucks, I will now have a better understanding of what went into them and how it all got started. The legend lives on...

Tried to contact you on the WECO part of the site. I am also WECO from El paso in the late '60s. Other installers missing are Lonnie White (drank lunch at the Tap), Charlie Cumber, Marvin Carver, Mike Chavaria, Richard and Arturo Hernandez. Tucson and Chicago were Hill, and me, Mike Cortez from the '68 group of hires by Red Blanton. Time when Ruth (later Blanton) was the secretary. Get email bounce on the contact link.
Hope life is still a kick in the ass.
